One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.
— Virginia Woolf

You can’t live without food. That’s just a fact. But, it goes so much further beyond that. When you’re hungry, it’s all you can think about. You can’t focus on school, learning, work, emotional health, or even growth if your body is in such a state that it’s physically affected by hunger. PAMITR believes that every living creature should be guaranteed this necessity and that student lunch debt is crap. There’s no other word for it. We shouldn’t have little kids, sitting in a classroom, too hungry to pay attention and worried about a potential embarrassment from the cafeteria. What kind of school lacks the knowledge to understand the impact hunger makes on learning?

That being said we have more than just hungry kids at school. We have hungry babies and homeless. We have struggling families trying to make it through to the next paycheck. We have single parents in need of formula who could also use a meal for themselves; but, hate to impose.

We also have people with an extra shelf in their home who would gladly use it for donations to hand out to their neighbors when needed. That’s the idea behind Mama’s Web.

For the project PAMITR would like the following:

  • Volunteers to store food and toiletry donations for their local neighborhoods

  • Food, toiletries, diapers, and baby supply donations

  • Food drives

  • Prepared meals for those who can’t cook for themselves

  • Elderly meal preparation and delivery

  • Recipe exchange

  • Shopping tips and help

  • Proper food storage & cooking training

  • Starving Student program (for college kids to learn budgeting, recipes, cooking, and proper food storage)

  • Monthly BBQs for the homeless

  • Student lunch payments
