Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.
— Khalil Gibran

I think at this point we have all had our issues with emotional struggles and mental illness. If not directly, then we have certainly been a part of the tortuous ride with a loved one. Some of us need medication and consistent contact with our team; others just need to feel love. It’s frustrating watching the individual in society repeatedly attempt to speak on the pain they feel, request the most basic of support, and be denied simply because the clumsiness of the request caused it to be misunderstood. Most of us don’t really know HOW to ask for help because we don’t fully understand WHAT we need. An emotional breakdown from feeling alone doesn’t typically look like a soft, worn figure with tears in their eyes begging for mercy. It’s more of a rage of word vomit attempting to spew out every thought that has been ignored in the few seconds someone is listening. The greater the distance - the more acidic the vomit. This adds to the distance, discord, and division that created the emotional pain to begin with; so, the cycle continues.

So much of our emotional pain and struggle could be resolved with love and understanding. Understanding comes from experience and education. I know there’s enough of us in the world to repair the bridges that have been burned by this pain.
